Qualifications and Experience:
- Valid certification in teaching Deaf and Hard of Hearing students or a relevant credential
- Demonstrated background in creating accessible classrooms for learners with hearing impairments
- Proficiency with various communication methods, including American Sign Language (ASL), lip reading, or auditory-verbal strategies
- Ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams, students, and families
- Commitment to fostering a supportive and effective learning atmosphere
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and deliver specialized lessons designed for students who are deaf or hard of hearing
- Create, implement, and routinely update individualized education plans (IEPs) with input from a collaborative team
- Integrate assistive technologies and adapt communication approaches to enhance classroom learning
- Regularly evaluate and document student progress, modifying teaching strategies as necessary
- Conduct training and provide ongoing support to families and school staff, ensuring effective communication strategies are in place
- Maintain accurate records and fulfill all reporting obligations per school policy and state requirements
