This opportunity seeks an experienced educator specializing in Deaf and Hard of Hearing instruction to serve students across grades K-12. The position is based in Pleasant View, TN and is offered on a contract basis for the current school year (CSY). The ideal candidate will provide tailored educational support to students with hearing impairments, fostering their academic growth and communication skills.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and deliver specialized instructional plans for students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing.
- Collaborate with general education teachers, families, and related service providers to ensure inclusive and effective learning environments.
- Utilize assistive technologies and communication methods such as sign language or speech reading to meet individual student needs.
- Monitor student progress and adjust teaching strategies accordingly.
- Provide training and support to staff and families regarding Deaf and Hard of Hearing educational resources and accommodations.
Qualifications:
- Valid teaching certification with endorsement or specialization in Deaf and Hard of Hearing education.
- Experience working with K-12 students in a similar role.
- Strong communication skills and proficiency in sign language preferred.
- Ability to develop individualized education plans (IEPs) and implement instructional accommodations.
- Commitment to fostering inclusive, supportive classrooms for students with hearing impairments.
