Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing in Pleasant View, TN
This full-time, on-site opportunity seeks an experienced Teacher of the Deaf / Hard of Hearing to provide comprehensive K-12 educational services within a school district in the Nashville area. The contract position runs from the start date through May 20, 2026, supporting multiple school assignments as determined by student needs.
Responsibilities:
- Deliver specialized instruction and support to students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing across grades K-12.
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to each student’s unique learning requirements.
- Collaborate with classroom teachers, speech therapists, and other professionals to create an inclusive learning environment.
- Monitor student progress and adjust teaching methods to ensure educational goals are met.
- Provide consultative support to staff and families regarding communication strategies and assistive technologies.
- Maintain documentation in compliance with district and state regulations.
Qualifications:
- Valid Tennessee Department of Education teaching license with certification in Deaf / Hard of Hearing education.
- Demonstrated experience working with K-12 students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing.
- Strong understanding of educational techniques, assistive technology, and communication modes related to hearing loss.
- Excellent collaboration and communication skills to work effectively with multidisciplinary teams and families.
- Ability to manage varying caseloads and adapt services based on students’ evolving needs.
Location:
On-site position in schools within the Nashville, Tennessee area. Hybrid or remote work options are not available.
