Teacher of the Deaf in San Mateo, CA
An opportunity is available for a dedicated Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing to support K-12 students in a dynamic educational setting located in San Mateo, CA. This contract position offers an engaging environment where specialized skills will help enhance learning experiences for students with hearing impairments throughout the school year (CSY).
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement individualized education programs (IEPs) tailored to students who are deaf or hard of hearing.
- Employ specialized instructional techniques, including auditory and visual strategies, to meet diverse learning needs.
- Collaborate with speech-language pathologists, audiologists, and general education staff to ensure a comprehensive support system.
- Monitor student progress and adjust instruction accordingly to maximize academic achievement.
- Provide ongoing communication and training to families regarding strategies to support learning at home.
Desired Qualifications:
- Certification or licensure in teaching students who are deaf or hard of hearing.
- Experience working with K-12 students in an educational setting.
- Strong understanding of audiological assessments and assistive technology.
