Educational Mission

Support diverse learners with hearing loss across all educational levels, focusing on language development, academic achievement, and cultural identity while preparing students for successful post-secondary transitions and independent living.

Core Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement individualized educational programming
  • Provide specialized instruction using visual learning methodologies
  • Coordinate with audiologists and hearing healthcare professionals
  • Support communication development across multiple modalities
  • Facilitate family involvement and communication strategy training
  • Monitor student progress and modify teaching approaches accordingly
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation and compliance standards

Required Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Deaf and Hard of Hearing Education or equivalent
  • Valid New Mexico DHH teaching certification or licensure
  • Minimum 2 years of classroom experience with deaf and hard of hearing students
  • American Sign Language competency strongly preferred
  • Knowledge of assistive listening devices and communication technology
  • Proficient virtual instruction and student engagement abilities
