Location: near Savannah, GA (border of SC state)
Job Duties:

Key Responsibilities:
-
Provide direct instruction to students who are deaf or hard of hearing, using appropriate communication methods such as American Sign Language (ASL), spoken language, or cued speech.
-
Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) tailored to each student’s needs.
-
Collaborate with general education teachers, speech-language pathologists, and other professionals to support students’ academic and social development.
-
Adapt curriculum and instructional strategies to meet the unique learning needs of DHH students.
-
Utilize assistive technology and accommodations, such as FM systems, captioning, and visual supports, to enhance student learning.
-
Conduct assessments to monitor student progress and adjust instruction accordingly.
-
Provide guidance and resources to families to support their child’s education and communication needs.
-
Advocate for students’ needs within the school setting and ensure compliance with federal and state regulations.
Must Haves:
-
Bachelor’s degree in Deaf Education, DHH Education, or Special Education with a focus on DHH students; Master’s degree preferred.

Valid state teaching license or certification in Deaf/Hard of Hearing education, or Special Education with DHH endorsement.

Strong proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) or other communication methods used in classroom instruction.

Solid understanding of instructional strategies, curriculum design, and available resources for students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing.

Experience working with diverse learners and adapting instruction to meet individual student needs.
