Travel or Local—You Decide

  • Travel contracts are available for professionals 75+ miles from home and include tax-free stipends for housing, meals, and incidentals—plus competitive weekly pay.

  • Local contracts offer excellent hourly compensation with full benefits (no stipends needed).

Position Overview

  • District: Seattle Public Schools

  • Location: Seattle, WA

  • Role: Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH x4)

  • Start Date: September 3, 2025

  • End Date: June 17, 2026

  • Schedule: Full-Time, 37.5 hours/week, Monday–Friday

  • Setting: Onsite only

  • Assignment: School site(s) TBD

  • Caseloads:

    • 3 positions will serve 18 students each

    • 1 position will serve 15 students

  • Student Population: Students who are deaf, hard of hearing, or transitioning in their hearing loss

  • Communication Requirement: ASL proficiency required


Responsibilities

  • Provide direct instruction and support to DHH students in K–12 settings

  • Collaborate with general education staff, interpreters, audiologists, and families

  • Develop and implement IEPs in compliance with district/state/federal guidelines

  • Advocate for student accessibility across academic and social environments

  • Participate in IEP meetings, assessments, and multidisciplinary teams


Required Credentials

  • Master’s Degree in Deaf Education or related field

  • Washington State DHH Certification (WA DOE)

  • Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL)

  • Prior school-based experience is a plus
