What You’ll Be Doing

As a school-based Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing in Seattle, you’ll serve as a vital advocate and educator for students with hearing loss. In this role, you’ll create and deliver accessible instruction tailored to individual student needs, using a range of communication modalities including sign language, auditory-verbal approaches, and assistive technology. Collaborating with IEP teams, families, and other specialists, you’ll ensure that every student has the support needed to reach their educational and personal goals. From fostering language development to ensuring equitable classroom participation, your work will empower students to learn, connect, and thrive.

Qualifications and Licensure

To qualify for this role, candidates must hold or be eligible for a Washington State teaching certification with a Deaf/Hard of Hearing (DHH) endorsement. Master’s degree in Deaf Education is required. Candidates with experience in school settings, strong IEP knowledge, and proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) are highly encouraged to apply.
