Job Title: Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH)
Location: Seattle, WA
Schedule: Full-Time | 37.5 hours/week | Monday–Friday | Onsite
Position Overview:
We are seeking a compassionate and qualified Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) to join a dedicated educational team in Seattle, WA. In this role, you will provide specialized instruction and support to students who are deaf or hard of hearing, ensuring their full access to the general education curriculum. You’ll collaborate closely with educators, families, interpreters, and related service providers to help students reach their academic and communication goals.

Key Responsibilities:

Deliver direct and consultative educational services per students’ IEPs

Assess academic performance and communication needs using appropriate tools

Design and implement individualized lesson plans based on communication preferences (e.g., ASL, total communication, auditory-oral)

Support development in speech, listening, language, reading, and academic content

Collaborate with general and special education staff to adapt instructional materials and environments

Participate in IEP meetings, progress monitoring, and annual reviews

Provide training to school staff on hearing loss, assistive technology, and classroom accommodations

Monitor and troubleshoot hearing devices such as hearing aids, FM/DM systems, and cochlear implants

Offer guidance and education to families about hearing loss and advocacy

Travel between school sites as needed
Qualifications:

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Deaf Education or Special Education with DHH emphasis

Valid state-issued teaching certification for Deaf and Hard of Hearing

Knowledge of various communication modalities (ASL, oral communication, cued speech, etc.)

Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) preferred; may be required for some assignments

Strong interpersonal, organizational, and collaboration skills

Experience working with diverse student populations is a plus
