Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing in Saint Paul, MN

Position Overview: As an Intervener Substitute, you will work closely with the student to facilitate communication, orientation, mobility, and curriculum access. Your efforts will help maintain the student’s routine, applying personalized communication methods and sensory access strategies. Collaboration with classroom teachers, related service providers, and the Student Services team will be essential for a cohesive support plan.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver individualized 1:1 support tailored to the student’s needs
- Implement and adapt communication systems and sensory accessibility techniques
- Assist with orientation, mobility, and safety within the learning environment
- Monitor and document student progress following district guidelines
- Maintain continuity of services during the primary intervener’s leave
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree required
- Valid Short-Call Substitute License (PELSB)
- Experience as an Intervener, preferably within a school district setting
- Knowledge and skills in supporting students with sensory impairments, especially deafblindness
- Ability to collaborate effectively with educational and support staff
- Strong communication and documentation skills
This contract position runs Monday through Friday during standard school hours, with an exact daily schedule provided upon placement.
