Teacher for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing Needed in Washington State
We are currently seeking a qualified Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) Teacher or ESA with experience in aural habilitation to support students with hearing loss in educational settings. This full-time, onsite role runs through June 16, 2026, and focuses on providing specialized support across a continuum of general and special education settings.
The successful candidate will demonstrate a strong foundation in special education practices, possess excellent communication and collaboration skills, and be experienced in working with students who are deaf or hard of hearing.
Key Responsibilities:

Provide direct and consultative services to students with hearing loss across educational settings

Deliver aural habilitation and support access to the general education curriculum

Collaborate with general and special education teachers, specialists, and families

Assist in developing, implementing, and monitoring IEPs

Maintain compliance with all state and federal special education regulations

Participate actively in school-based teams to support inclusive practices
Minimum Requirements:

Valid Washington State teaching certificate or ESA credential

Experience in aural habilitation

Must be fingerprinted through OSPI (Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction)

Strong communication, teaming, and collaboration skills

Experience delivering special education services across multiple settings
Preferred Qualifications:

Valid Washington State teaching certificate with a Special Education or Deaf Education Endorsement

Meets NCLB “highly qualified” definitions in core academic subjects

Prior experience teaching in special education, particularly with students with hearing loss

Effective team member who contributes to whole-school initiatives and supports all students
-
Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with staff and families
-
Strong knowledge of current laws, research-based instructional strategies, and service delivery models for students who are deaf or hard of hearing
Additional Information:
This is an onsite-only position. Remote or hybrid options are not available.
Applicants must have current Washington licensure and be fingerprinted through OSPI before the start date.
