Position: Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) Teacher
Location: Tacoma, Washington
Start Date: ASAP – June 16, 2026
Schedule: Full-Time | School Year (Monday–Friday)
Pay Rate: Hourly compensation range of $45 - $50
Job Description:
This School District is seeking a dedicated Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) Teacher to join our team and provide high-quality instruction to students with hearing loss. The DHH teacher will create inclusive, individualized learning experiences, collaborate with support staff, and empower students to reach their full potential academically, socially, and emotionally.
Responsibilities:

Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with hearing loss
-
Provide direct instruction using ASL, oral, or other communication methods as appropriate

Collaborate with classroom teachers, audiologists, speech-language pathologists, and interpreters
-
Monitor student progress and adjust instructional strategies as needed

Maintain accurate records and communicate regularly with families

Integrate assistive technology (e.g., FM systems, hearing aids, cochlear implants) into instruction
Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in Deaf Education / DHH Education or Special Education with DHH specialization (Master’s preferred)

State teaching certification in DHH or Special Education with DHH endorsement

Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) or other communication methods used in instruction

Knowledge of strategies, curriculum, and resources for students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing

Strong collaboration, communication, and organizational skills
Preferred Qualifications:

Experience teaching DHH students in K–12 settings

Familiarity with assistive listening devices and classroom technology

Experience with early intervention or auditory-verbal programs
