Virtual Deaf and Hard of Hearing Teacher in PA
A part-time Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) educator position is available in a K-12 school located approximately 30 miles south of Pittsburgh, PA. This role involves providing specialized instructional support and direct telehealth services to students across multiple grade levels, ensuring comprehensive hearing support tailored to each student’s needs.
Responsibilities include:
- Delivering tailored DHH instruction via telehealth and in-person sessions to students ranging from 1st through 12th grade
- Conducting scheduled, small group and individual sessions throughout the week, maintaining consistent engagement and support
- Collaborating with school staff to address the unique communication and learning needs of deaf and hard of hearing students
- Monitoring student progress and adjusting instructional strategies accordingly
- Providing hearing support services focused on amplification tools and communication techniques to enhance classroom participation
Scheduled hours are approximately 10 hours per week, broken down as follows:
- 1st Grade: 20 minutes weekly
- 4th Grade: Eight 30-minute sessions monthly
- 6th Grade: Hearing support, 126 minutes weekly
- 7th Grade: Four 30-minute sessions monthly
- 8th Grade: Two 30-minute sessions monthly
- 10th Grade: 205 minutes weekly
- 12th Grade: Eight 30-minute direct sessions monthly and additional 30 minutes weekly
Desired qualifications and experience:
- Certification or licensure as a Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing
- Experience working with K-12 students in educational or telehealth settings
- Strong understanding of auditory and communication strategies for deaf and hard of hearing learners
- Ability to manage and deliver remote instruction effectively
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
