The Deaf and Hard of Hearing Teacher provides specialized instruction, consultation, and support services to students with hearing loss, helping them access the curriculum while fostering language development, independence, and social-emotional growth.

Key Responsibilities
-
Provide individualized and small-group instruction to students who are deaf or hard of hearing
-
Support language and communication development using appropriate modalities aligned with each student’s IEP
-
Collaborate with general education teachers to ensure classroom accessibility and effective accommodations
-
Develop, implement, and monitor IEP goals and progress
-
Consult on hearing assistive technology and classroom strategies
-
Maintain accurate documentation and ensure compliance with special education regulations

Partner with families, administrators, and multidisciplinary teams to support student success
Requirements
Applicants must meet all local and state requirements, including:

Active Deaf and Hard of Hearing Teacher (DHHT) Educator Certification
-
Active Pennsylvania Department of Education (PDE) certification
-
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Deaf Education, Special Education, or a related field
-
Knowledge of Pennsylvania special education regulations and IEP development

School-based experience working with students who are deaf or hard of hearing preferred

Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills

Ability to pass all required background checks and clearances
