An opportunity is available for an experienced educator specializing in Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) instruction to serve elementary students in a full-time, on-site role within the Virginia Beach area. This contract position runs from December 1, 2025, to June 16, 2026, and focuses on servicing a small caseload of eight students from kindergarten through fifth grade, all located within the district center.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver tailored educational programs for students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing, supporting their academic and social development.
- Develop individualized learning plans aligned with students’ needs and state curriculum standards.
- Utilize specialized teaching methods and assistive technologies to enhance communication and learning.
- Collaborate with district staff and families to ensure consistency in student support and progress monitoring.
- Participate in meetings and professional development related to DHH education.
Qualifications:
- Possession of an active Virginia Department of Education (VA DOE) certification in the area of Deaf and Hard of Hearing education; provisional certification accepted.
- Demonstrated experience or training in teaching students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
