A full-time teaching position is available for a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing (DHH) in the Virginia Beach area. This contract role runs from ASAP through June 16, 2026, supporting a small caseload of eight students from kindergarten through 5th grade, all located at the district center.
Responsibilities include:
- Delivering specialized instruction tailored to the learning needs of students who are deaf or hard of hearing
- Collaborating with district staff and families to ensure individualized educational goals are met
- Managing and supporting a caseload of eight students in grades K-5
- Maintaining compliance with district and state educational standards
Qualifications and experience:
- Active Virginia Department of Education (VA DOE) certification for teaching students who are deaf or hard of hearing
- Experience working with early elementary age groups (K-5) preferred
- Strong communication and organizational skills to support small caseload students
- Willingness and ability to work on-site; hybrid or remote options are not available for this role
Location and schedule:
- Based in the Virginia Beach area, servicing Chesapeake public schools
- Full-time position, approximately 35 hours per week
- Assignment located at a district center with all students present on-site
