K-5 Grades 6 - 8 Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (TDHH) | Tacoma, Washington
A specialized teaching opportunity is available for a skilled educator experienced in instructing Deaf and Hard of Hearing students across early childhood through grade 12 levels. This contract position supports students throughout the district, providing essential educational services from the start date as soon as possible through the end of the school year.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver tailored instruction to students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing across grades K-12
- Collaborate with classroom teachers and support staff to create accessible learning environments
- Use specialized teaching techniques and assistive technology to enhance student learning and communication
- Assess student progress and adapt teaching plans to meet individual needs
- Support the academic and social development of students in accordance with district standards and goals
Qualifications:
- Master’s Level Degree in Education with a focus on Teaching Deaf Students
- State Teaching Certification specifically in Deaf Education
- Previous experience working in K-12 educational settings, preferably handling diverse age groups from early childhood through secondary grades
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team
- Flexibility to work full-time hours, five days per week, committing to 30+ hours weekly
