Teacher for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing

Blazer Jobs is actively seeking experienced Teachers of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing for a full-time role within school districts in the Oakland, California area for the 2024-2025 school year.
Requirements:
- Valid certification as a Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing in the state of California.
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Deaf Education or a related field.
- Compliance with all local and state licensure requirements.
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and familiarity with other communication modalities.
- Strong instructional and classroom management skills.
- Ability to differentiate instruction and adapt teaching methods to meet the diverse needs of students who are deaf or hard of hearing.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for students who are deaf or hard of hearing, in collaboration with the IEP team.
- Provide direct instruction in academic subjects, language development, and communication skills, utilizing specialized materials and technology as needed.
- Facilitate access to the general education curriculum by modifying materials, providing supplementary supports, and advocating for accommodations.
- Collaborate with classroom teachers, speech-language pathologists, audiologists, and other professionals to ensure a comprehensive and cohesive educational experience for students.
- Monitor student progress, collect data, and adjust instructional strategies based on ongoing assessment results.
