Start Date: Tentative first day of school: August 21, 2024
End Date: Tentative last day of school: June 17, 2025
Description: We are seeking a dedicated and qualified Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing to join our team for the 2024-2025 school year in Bridgeport, CT. As a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing, you will play a crucial role in providing specialized instruction and support to students with hearing loss to ensure their academic success.
Responsibilities:
- Provide direct instruction to students who are deaf or hard of hearing, utilizing appropriate teaching strategies and accommodations.
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with hearing loss, in collaboration with the IEP team.
- Provide support and consultation to general education teachers and other school staff regarding accommodations, modifications, and strategies for students with hearing loss.
- Conduct assessments to evaluate students' hearing abilities and academic progress.
- Collaborate with parents, audiologists, and other professionals to support students' communication and language development.
- Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment that promotes the social and emotional well-being of students with hearing loss.
Qualifications:
- Valid CT 057 Hard of Hearing teaching certification.
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Deaf Education, Special Education, or a related field.
- Experience working with students who are deaf or hard of hearing preferred.
- Knowledge of American Sign Language (ASL) or willingness to learn.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with students, families, and colleagues.
Schedule:
- Full-time position, 32.5 hours per week.
- Onsite work required.
