Virtual Deaf and Hard of Hearing Teacher
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Virtual Deaf and Hard of Hearing Teacher to join our team. In this role, you will provide virtual instruction and support to students who are deaf or hard of hearing, ensuring their academic success and overall development. You will utilize various virtual platforms and tools to create engaging and accessible learning experiences tailored to meet the individual needs of each student.
Responsibilities:
- Deliver virtual instruction to students who are deaf or hard of hearing, utilizing American Sign Language (ASL) and other communication modalities as needed.
- Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) in collaboration with the student's team, including parents, special education staff, and other professionals.
- Adapt instructional materials and activities to accommodate diverse learning styles and abilities.
- Provide ongoing assessment of student progress and adjust teaching strategies accordingly.
- Collaborate with colleagues and other professionals to ensure a supportive and inclusive learning environment.
- Maintain accurate records of student attendance, progress, and behavior.
- Communicate regularly with students, parents, and other stakeholders to provide updates on student progress and address any concerns.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Deaf Education, Special Education, or a related field (Master's degree preferred).
- Valid teaching certification/license in Deaf Education or Special Education (if applicable).
- Fluency in American Sign Language (ASL) and knowledge of other communication modalities used by individuals who are deaf or hard of hearing.
- Experience working with students who are deaf or hard of hearing, preferably in a virtual setting.
- Strong understanding of best practices in deaf education and familiarity with assistive technology and resources.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a remote/virtual environment.
