Job Title: Full-Time Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) Teacher
Location: Roxbury, MA
Soliant is thrilled to announce a full-time opening for a Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) Teacher in partnership with a respected school district in Roxbury, MA. We are seeking a passionate and dedicated educator to join our team and make a meaningful impact on the lives of students who are deaf or hard of hearing. This position offers weekly pay, advisory support, professional development opportunities, and renewal for the 2023-2024 school year.
Responsibilities:
Provide instruction and support to students who are deaf or hard of hearing in various academic subjects and communication skills.
Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to meet the unique needs of each student.
Utilize specialized teaching techniques and tools, including sign language, assistive technology, and visual aids, to enhance learning outcomes.
Collaborate with other educators, therapists, and support staff to create an inclusive and supportive learning environment.
Assess student progress, track data, and adjust teaching strategies as needed to ensure student growth and success.
Foster a positive and respectful classroom culture that promotes independence, self-advocacy, and confidence among students.
Communicate regularly with parents/guardians to provide updates on student progress and collaborate on educational goals.
Stay current with best practices, research, and developments in the field of deaf education through professional development activities.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Deaf Education, Special Education, or a related field.
Valid teaching license/certification in Special Education or Deaf Education (or eligibility to obtain certification).
Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) or willingness to become proficient.
Experience working with students who are deaf or hard of hearing preferred but not required.
Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.
Compassion, patience, and a commitment to advocating for the needs of students with disabilities.
Ability to adapt instruction to meet the diverse learning styles and abilities of students.
