Deaf & Hard of Hearing Teacher Virtual | Washington

Job Description: We are currently seeking a dedicated and experienced Deaf and Hard of Hearing Teacher to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for supporting students with hearing impairments, creating inclusive learning environments, and implementing effective teaching strategies to enhance communication skills.

Responsibilities:

1. Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with hearing impairments.
2. Provide specialized instruction in communication methods, including American Sign Language (ASL) and other augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) systems.
3. Collaborate with other educators, speech-language pathologists, and support staff to ensure a cohesive and supportive learning environment.
4. Assess and monitor students' progress in language, literacy, and other academic areas.
5. Utilize assistive technology and resources to enhance communication and learning experiences.
6. Foster a positive and inclusive classroom culture that celebrates diversity and promotes mutual understanding.
7. Provide support to mainstream teachers and staff in accommodating students with hearing impairments in regular classroom settings.
8. Conduct regular communication with parents, sharing progress updates and collaborating on strategies for student success.

Qualifications:

1. Bachelor's or Master's degree in Deaf Education or Special Education with a focus on hearing impairments.
2. Valid state teaching certification in Deaf Education or Special Education with a hearing impairment endorsement.
3. Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and other relevant communication modes.
4. Experience working with students who are deaf or hard of hearing.
5. Strong collaboration and communication skills.
6. Commitment to creating an inclusive and accessible learning environment.
