Job Description: We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) Teacher to join our team for the 2024/2025 school year. As a crucial member of our school-based team, the DHH Teacher will play an essential role in providing direct instruction and support to students with hearing impairments.
Responsibilities:
- Provide direct instruction to students with hearing impairments, utilizing specialized instructional techniques and materials
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to meet the unique needs of each student
- Collaborate closely with classroom teachers, speech-language pathologists, and other professionals to support students' academic and social development
- Provide support and training to classroom teachers and staff on best practices for working with students who are deaf or hard of hearing
- Use assistive technology and communication devices to facilitate learning and communication for students with hearing impairments
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of student progress and instructional strategies
Requirements:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Deaf Education or a related field
- Valid Texas state teaching certification in Deaf Education or eligibility for certification
- Minimum of one year of recent experience working with students who are deaf or hard of hearing
- Fluency in American Sign Language (ASL) preferred
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Passion for providing high-quality services to students with diverse needs
