Make a difference in the lives of middle school students by supporting their educational journeys as a Deaf/Hard of Hearing Specialist. This is a contract-to-hire opportunity for the 26/27 school year, providing meaningful part-time hours (15–20 hours per week) and allowing you to focus your expertise on a manageable caseload of just three students. Qualifications & Desired Experience:
- Certification as a Deaf/Hard of Hearing Specialist or Teacher for the Deaf/Hard of Hearing
- Previous experience working with middle school-aged students is a plus
- Strong understanding of individualized education plans (IEPs) and accommodations for DHH learners
- Proficient communication skills, including ASL or other relevant methods of communication
- Ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and provide guidance to teachers and staff
- Commitment to advocating for students’ needs and holistic development
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct instruction and support to students with hearing differences
- Develop, implement, and track individualized education plans
- Consult with classroom teachers to adapt materials and strategies for accessibility
- Facilitate communication between students, families, and school staff
- Monitor student progress, maintain records, and participate in IEP meetings
- Offer training or recommendations to staff to ensure inclusive practices
