Make a difference in the lives of middle school students by supporting their educational journeys as a Deaf/Hard of Hearing Specialist. This is a contract-to-hire opportunity for the 26/27 school year, providing meaningful part-time hours (15–20 hours per week) and allowing you to focus your expertise on a manageable caseload of just three students. You’ll play a pivotal role in fostering inclusion and academic success, collaborating with educators and families to create an accessible, empowering environment.

Qualifications & Desired Experience:

  • Certification as a Deaf/Hard of Hearing Specialist or Teacher for the Deaf/Hard of Hearing
  • Previous experience working with middle school-aged students is a plus
  • Strong understanding of individualized education plans (IEPs) and accommodations for DHH learners
  • Proficient communication skills, including ASL or other relevant methods of communication
  • Ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and provide guidance to teachers and staff
  • Commitment to advocating for students’ needs and holistic development

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct instruction and support to students with hearing differences
  • Develop, implement, and track individualized education plans
  • Consult with classroom teachers to adapt materials and strategies for accessibility
  • Facilitate communication between students, families, and school staff
  • Monitor student progress, maintain records, and participate in IEP meetings
  • Offer training or recommendations to staff to ensure inclusive practices
