A K-12 educational position is available for a Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) Specialist or Teacher in the Castro Valley, CA area. This role supports students within a collaborative district Special Education Local Plan Area (SELPA), providing onsite services for the DHH population.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver specialized instruction and support to Deaf and Hard of Hearing students across K-12 grade levels.
  • Collaborate with educational teams to develop individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to specific student needs.
  • Utilize appropriate communication methods and assistive technologies to foster student learning and engagement.
  • Participate in ongoing professional development and maintain up-to-date knowledge of best practices in DHH education.
  • Liaise with families, staff, and administration to ensure comprehensive support and resource access.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Certification in Deaf and Hard of Hearing education or relevant teaching credential.
  • Experience working with K-12 students who are deaf or hard of hearing.
  • Strong understanding of communication strategies, auditory and visual aids, and adaptive learning environments.
  • Effective collaboration and communication skills within multidisciplinary teams.

Location: Onsite in Castro Valley, CA, serving mid-Alameda County areas within the SELPA.

Duration: Contract position for the current school year (CSY).
