Deaf and Hard of Hearing Teacher (DHH) in San Francisco, CA
A specialized role is available for an experienced Deaf/Hard of Hearing (DHH) Specialist to provide onsite support within schools in the San Francisco, CA area. This contract opportunity focuses on delivering expert educational services to students with hearing impairments within the Mid-Alameda County SELPA. The position involves working directly in school settings to enhance students’ learning experiences and support their unique communication needs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct instruction and support to students who are deaf or hard of hearing.
- Collaborate with educators, families, and related service providers to develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
- Assess and monitor student progress and adapt educational materials to accommodate hearing impairments.
- Facilitate communication and advocacy to promote inclusive classroom environments.
- Participate in meetings and present findings and recommendations as needed.
Qualifications:
- Certification or licensure as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing.
- Experience working with Deaf/Hard of Hearing students in school settings.
- Knowledge of assistive listening devices, language development strategies, and educational best practices for hearing-impaired learners.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work onsite within school facilities across the Mid-Alameda County area.
