Key Qualifications:
- Valid state licensure or certification as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing (or eligibility to obtain)
- Experience or training working with students with various hearing abilities, including utilizing hearing technologies and alternate communication methods
- Solid grasp of assessment and instructional strategies tailored for students who are deaf or hard of hearing
- Strong interpersonal skills for collaborating with teachers, families, and support teams
- Proficiency in developing and implementing IEPs and supporting compliance with IDEA requirements
- Comfort with both in-person and virtual service delivery methods
- American Sign Language (ASL) proficiency preferred
What You’ll Do:
- Deliver specialized instruction to students who are deaf or hard of hearing, adapting curriculum to maximize learning access
- Collaborate with general education staff to facilitate inclusion in the classroom
- Provide direct and consultative services based on students’ educational needs and IEPs
- Serve as a resource and advocate for students and their families, fostering strong communication and support
- Monitor progress and adjust strategies, meeting compliance standards for documentation and reporting
- Offer guidance on assistive technology and accommodations for optimal classroom participation
