DHH Teacher | Tacoma, Washington

Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with hearing impairments
- Adapt curriculum and instructional techniques to meet students’ diverse needs
- Collaborate with general education teachers, school staff, and families for inclusive and supportive learning environments
- Provide direct instruction using American Sign Language (ASL), speech, or other preferred communication methods
- Assess student progress and modify strategies for optimal outcomes
- Advocate for student accommodations, accessibility, and success within the school community
Qualifications:
- Valid state certification as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing
- Bachelor’s degree in Deaf Education, Special Education, or related field (Master’s preferred)
- Experience working with children or adolescents who are deaf or hard of hearing
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and other communication modalities
- Strong collaboration and communication skills with students, colleagues, and parents
