Key Qualifications:
- Valid certification to teach students who are deaf or hard of hearing
- Experience utilizing various communication methods, such as ASL and spoken language approaches
- Knowledge of creating and implementing Individualized Education Plans (IEPs)
- Strong advocacy and communication skills
- Ability to collaborate with classroom teachers, therapists, and support staff
- Familiarity with augmentative and assistive technology for hearing loss preferred
- Organizational skills to manage caseload documentation and compliance effectively
Responsibilities:
- Deliver specialized instruction to students, both individually and in small groups, tailored to their communication needs
- Develop, implement, and monitor IEPs, collaborating closely with parents and educational teams
- Assess and document student progress, adjusting strategies as needed
- Provide consultation and resources to general education staff regarding best practices for inclusion and accommodations
- Advocate for a supportive, accessible educational environment and foster self-advocacy in students
- Attend and contribute to IEP meetings and professional development sessions as required
