Preferred qualifications and experience:
- Valid teaching certification in Deaf Education or eligibility for state credentials
- Experience working with deaf or hard of hearing students in school settings
- Proficient in American Sign Language (ASL) and other communication modalities
- Ability to adapt and modify curriculum based on students’ individual needs and IEP goals
- Strong collaboration, organization, and communication skills
- Passion for fostering inclusivity and equal access to education
Primary responsibilities:
- Design and implement instructional plans tailored for students who are deaf or hard of hearing
- Support students across various grade levels, both individually and in groups
- Advise and collaborate with general education teachers, interpreters, and support staff
- Participate in IEP meetings, student evaluations, and parent consultations
- Advocate for student needs and accommodations within the school community
- Maintain accurate documentation of student progress and support services
