Travel Deaf and Hard of Hearing Specialist - Castro Valley, California
A specialized position is available for an experienced Deaf / Hard of Hearing (DHH) Specialist or Teacher located onsite in Castro Valley, California. This role involves working directly with schools within the Mid-Alameda County SELPA region, providing support and instruction tailored to students who are deaf or hard of hearing. The position requires occasional travel throughout the county to serve various school locations, enabling comprehensive support across the SELPA area.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver specialized instruction and support to students who are deaf or hard of hearing, adapting teaching methods to meet individual needs.
- Collaborate with school staff, families, and related service providers to develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs).
- Monitor student progress and maintain detailed documentation aligned with educational standards and compliance requirements.
- Participate in district and SELPA meetings, presenting updates and contributing expertise as needed.
- Support communication access through assistive technology and other accommodations.
Desired Qualifications and Experience:
- Certification or credentialing as a Deaf / Hard of Hearing educator or specialist.
- Experience working within school environments serving students with hearing impairments.
- Knowledge of state and federal education laws related to special education and hearing disabilities.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills to effectively engage with students, families, and educational teams.
- Willingness to travel within Mid-Alameda County to support multiple school sites.
