Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) - Charlotte, NC
A full-time opportunity is available for a skilled Deaf / Hard of Hearing Specialist to support a school environment in Charlotte, NC. This role requires an experienced educator dedicated to serving a student caseload of 10-12 individuals with hearing impairments, providing specialized instruction and support to help each student achieve their academic and personal goals.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to students with hearing impairments
- Deliver direct instruction using appropriate strategies and technologies to enhance learning for Deaf and Hard of Hearing students
- Collaborate with classroom teachers, speech therapists, and families to ensure comprehensive support
- Monitor student progress and adapt teaching methods to meet evolving needs
- Maintain detailed records and provide reports as required by educational guidelines
Qualifications and Experience:
- Valid NCDPI DHH Professional Educator’s License is mandatory
- Proven experience working with Deaf and Hard of Hearing students in an educational setting
- Strong knowledge of communication methods, assistive technologies, and instructional strategies tailored to hearing-impaired learners
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with a multidisciplinary team
Position Details:
- Full-time, 40 hours per week
- Onsite work in a school setting
- Contract-based assignment
