Deaf and Hard of Hearing Specialist - Mooresville, North Carolina
An opportunity is available for a Deaf / Hard of Hearing Specialist to work full-time, providing dedicated support to students in a school setting located in Mooresville, NC. This contract position involves working onsite for 40 hours per week and serving a caseload of 10 to 12 students.
Responsibilities include:
- Assessing and addressing the unique educational needs of students who are deaf or hard of hearing
- Developing and implementing individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to students’ communication and learning requirements
- Collaborating with classroom teachers, families, and support staff to create an inclusive and accessible learning environment
- Utilizing specialized strategies and resources to enhance students' academic and social development
- Monitoring student progress and making data-driven adjustments to instructional approaches
- Participating in meetings, professional development, and ongoing communication to ensure best practices
Qualifications:
- Valid North Carolina DPI Deaf / Hard of Hearing Professional Educator’s License is required
- Experience working with students who are deaf or hard of hearing in an educational setting
- Strong knowledge of communication modes, assistive technologies, and instructional methodologies relevant to deaf education
- Ability to maintain a caseload of 10-12 students with individualized attention
- Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills
- Commitment to fostering a supportive and empowering classroom atmosphere
