Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) - Punta Gorda, FL
A full-time opportunity is available for a certified or certifiable Hearing Impaired Teacher in Punta Gorda, FL, serving K-12 students for the 2023-2026 school years. This contract position requires dedication to delivering specialized instruction in a supportive, multi-grade setting, working closely with paraprofessionals and other educators.
Key Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited institution.
- Valid Florida teacher certification or equivalent, with certification in Elementary Education and Exceptional Student Education (ESE).
- ESOL endorsement is required; Communications Disorder unit, Autism endorsement or certification preferred.
- Ability to differentiate instruction to meet diverse student needs.
- Appropriate ESOL, Gifted, and Reading certifications or hours as mandated.
- Alternative qualifications may be considered at the superintendent’s discretion.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Maintain a valid Florida Teaching Certificate or appropriate certification.
- Comply with all State Board of Education rules, Florida statutes, school board policies, and administrative procedures.
- Prepare, maintain, and submit all required records and reports accurately and timely.
- Support individualized student learning plans with tailored instructional methods.
- Enforce school rules, board policies, and administrative guidelines consistently.
- Foster a safe, orderly, and engaging classroom environment suitable for all students’ maturity and interests.
- Deliver instruction according to assigned schedules and locations.
- Develop and maintain comprehensive lesson plans with demonstrated preparation.
- Utilize a variety of teaching techniques and media appropriate to student capabilities and classroom conditions.
