Key Qualifications:
- Certification as a Teacher for the Deaf / Hard of Hearing or ability to obtain appropriate state credentials
- Previous experience or strong understanding of working with children who are deaf or hard of hearing in an educational setting
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL), oral communication techniques, and/or other communication modes used by students
- Skilled in developing and implementing Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for DHH students
- Strong collaboration skills and the ability to provide guidance to teachers, staff, and families
Primary Responsibilities:
- Deliver direct instructional services tailored to the needs of deaf and hard of hearing students
- Participate in the development, review, and implementation of IEPs
- Serve as an advocate and educational resource for DHH students, staff, and parents
- Consult with general and special education teachers to adapt curriculum and strategies as needed
- Assist in providing accommodations such as assistive listening devices, instructional modifications, and accessible materials
- Support school staff with best practices and ongoing professional development regarding DHH student needs
