A full-time opportunity is available to provide specialized instruction for middle school students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing. This position is a full school year contract, requiring 37.5 hours per week of commitment. The classroom setting focuses on a Total Communication approach, incorporating multiple communication methods to support student learning and interaction.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver tailored instruction to students in a Deaf/Hard of Hearing Total Communication (DHH TC) middle school setting.
  • Develop and implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) aligned with students' unique communication and learning needs.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to support student academic and social-emotional growth.
  • Utilize a variety of communication modalities, including sign language and spoken language, to foster inclusive classroom participation.
  • Monitor and evaluate student progress, adapting teaching strategies to optimize learning outcomes.
  • Maintain clear and consistent communication with families regarding student development and classroom activities.

Qualifications:

  • Valid teaching credential or certification in Deaf/Hard of Hearing education or related field.
  • Experience working with middle school students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing.
  • Proficiency in Total Communication strategies, including sign language and spoken language techniques.
  • Strong knowledge of assessment and instructional strategies tailored to Deaf and Hard of Hearing learners.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment.
