An opportunity is available for an ASL Teacher specializing in Deaf and Hard of Hearing education at a K-12 school in Bangor, PA. This contract position will focus on providing focused instruction to develop American Sign Language skills for one student. The role offers 2-4 hours per week, continuing until June 1, 2026, with onsite work preferred and virtual options considered.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver personalized ASL instruction to improve communication abilities of a student with hearing challenges
  • Develop and implement lesson plans tailored to the student's specific learning needs
  • Utilize specialized teaching methods appropriate for Deaf and Hard of Hearing learners
  • Collaborate with school staff and families to support the student’s educational progress
  • Maintain accurate records documenting student performance and growth

Qualifications:

  • Registration under the Speech-Language Interpreter (SLI) and Transliteration Registration Act is required
  • Valid and active Pennsylvania Instructional Certificate
  • Fluency in American Sign Language (ASL)
  • Previous experience teaching Deaf or Hard of Hearing students, preferably in a K-12 setting
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with students and educational teams

Location: Bangor, Pennsylvania (Five Points Elementary)
