Teacher of the Deaf in Lowell, MA
This opportunity is for a dedicated Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing to support middle school students requiring specialized instruction. Located in Andover, MA, this contract position offers a structured 32.5-hour workweek across five days, catering to a caseload of 12-15 students. The role involves both individualized teaching and some collaborative co-teaching during 1-2 blocks, along with academic support responsibilities.
Key Qualifications:
- Valid Massachusetts Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (TDHH) certification
- Experience working with middle school-aged students
- Ability to deliver specialized instruction tailored to the needs of Deaf and Hard of Hearing learners
- Strong collaboration skills for co-teaching and academic support settings
Primary Responsibilities:
- Provide direct instruction and support to students on the caseload, utilizing best practices in Deaf and Hard of Hearing education
- Collaborate with general education staff during designated co-teaching blocks to facilitate inclusive learning environments
- Monitor and assess student progress, adapting instruction as necessary to meet individual needs
- Communicate regularly with families and educational teams to ensure coordinated student support
