Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (TDHH) | Schertz, Texas
This position offers an opportunity to support students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing in both elementary/middle and high school settings within a dynamic school district in the San Antonio area. The role is on a contract basis, starting August 12, 2026, through May 26, 2027, with a full-time schedule of 35 hours per week. Candidates will provide specialized instruction in math and core English, tailored to meet the unique communication and learning needs of this student population.
Key responsibilities include:
- Delivering effective teaching services to students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing across elementary, middle, or high school grade levels
- Designing and implementing individualized academic plans aligned with curriculum standards for math and English subjects
- Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to ensure students’ comprehensive educational needs are met
- Demonstrating fluency in American Sign Language (ASL) during the interview process as a vital component of communication with students and colleagues
- Maintaining appropriate educator certification and providing documentation of all licenses and certifications during application
Qualifications and experience sought:
- Undergraduate degree in Deaf and Hard of Hearing Education (DHH) required; Master’s degree preferred
- Valid Educator Certification is mandatory
- Experience teaching core subjects, particularly math and English, to Deaf or Hard of Hearing students
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively on-site within the school environment
- References prepared and available upon submission of credentials
