What We’re Looking For:
- Valid teaching certification for Deaf/Hard of Hearing, compliant with state requirements
- Proven experience working with children or young adults who are deaf or hard of hearing
- Strong understanding of educational strategies, assistive technology, and accommodations for students with hearing loss
- Excellent collaboration and communication abilities with students, staff, and families
- Ability to create and implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs)
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) or another communication method used in deaf education is highly valued
- Flexibility and adaptability in supporting students across grade levels
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and adapt lesson plans to meet the individual communication needs of each student
- Provide direct instruction and support for students in various educational settings
- Work closely with classroom teachers to modify curriculum and assignments for accessibility
- Help evaluate students’ progress and adjust teaching strategies accordingly
- Act as an advocate for students, ensuring equal access to educational opportunities
- Facilitate inclusion and foster a positive learning atmosphere that celebrates diversity in communication styles
