Desired Qualifications:
- Valid certification as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing, or in process of obtaining
- Experience working with early childhood populations, ideally ages 0-5
- Strong understanding of language development in children with hearing differences
- Knowledge of various communication methods, including ASL and spoken language approaches
- Ability to develop and implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs)
- Excellent collaboration and communication skills with families, staff, and related service providers
- Flexible, adaptable, and compassionate approach in diverse learning environments
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct instruction and support for children with hearing loss in early childhood classrooms
- Assess students’ needs and progress, adapting educational strategies accordingly
- Consult with classroom teachers and families to ensure appropriate accommodations and language access
- Participate actively in multidisciplinary teams and IEP meetings
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation
- Guide classroom staff in fostering an inclusive classroom environment
- Promote early language acquisition through a variety of evidence-based strategies
