A full-time teaching opportunity is available for a dedicated Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing to support students from PreK through 12th grade. This contract position, starting ASAP and ending June 6, 2026, is based in Poughkeepsie, NY, and involves working Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 2:40 pm.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver specialized instruction tailored to the needs of Deaf and Hard of Hearing students across a PreK-12 setting
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) in collaboration with team members and families
- Provide support and advocacy to ensure students’ access to the curriculum and school activities
- Utilize assessment tools to monitor student progress and adjust teaching methods accordingly
- Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment that promotes communication and social skills
- Collaborate with educators, therapists, and support staff to meet students’ academic and developmental goals
Desired Qualifications:
- Certification or licensure as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing
- Experience working with Deaf and Hard of Hearing students in an educational environment
- Strong knowledge of communication methodologies, including sign language and assistive technologies
- Effective classroom management and organizational skills
- Ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with students, families, and colleagues
