A full-semester contract opportunity is available for an experienced Teacher specializing in Deaf and Hard of Hearing education within a K-12 school setting in Oakland, OR. This position focuses on delivering specialized instruction and support to students with hearing impairments, helping them achieve academic success and personal growth.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to the needs of students who are deaf or hard of hearing.
- Provide direct instruction using appropriate teaching strategies and assistive technologies.
- Collaborate closely with general education teachers, audiologists, speech-language pathologists, and family members.
- Monitor student progress and adjust teaching methods to promote effective learning outcomes.
- Support students in developing communication skills, including sign language and auditory training.
- Maintain accurate records and comply with relevant educational policies and regulations.
Qualifications:
- Certification or licensure as a Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing.
- Experience teaching K-12 students with hearing loss in a school environment.
- Strong knowledge of instructional strategies, communication methods, and assistive devices for the hearing impaired.
- Ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams and families.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
