Essential Qualifications:
- Valid and active Michigan teaching license (required)
- Certification as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing
- Background working with K-12 students in educational settings
- Comfort delivering instruction both in-person and via VOCO/remote platforms
- Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills
- Ability to develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs)
- Proficient in adapting curriculum and teaching strategies to meet varying student needs
- Technologically adept for virtual/VOCO service delivery
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct instruction and support to students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing
- Assess student performance and adjust teaching approaches to facilitate progress
- Collaborate with general education staff, support personnel, and families
- Maintain accurate records, documentation, and compliance with state/federal regulations
- Attend IEP meetings and contribute insights for planning and student advocacy
- Serve as a resource for staff on best practices for hearing accessibility
