Virtual Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing
Location: Wyoming (Remote)
Job Type: Fulltime, Work From Home - Next School Year
Pay: $33/Hour
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with hearing impairments, in collaboration with students, families, and educational teams.
- Provide direct instruction and support to students in a virtual environment, utilizing a variety of instructional strategies and technologies to meet diverse learning needs.
- Adapt curriculum materials and resources to make content accessible to students with hearing impairments, including the use of visual aids, captioning, and sign language.
- Conduct assessments to monitor student progress and adjust instruction as needed to ensure academic growth and achievement.
- Collaborate with classroom teachers, special education staff, and related service providers to support students' overall educational and social-emotional development.
- Communicate regularly with students, families, and educational teams to provide progress updates, address concerns, and facilitate ongoing collaboration and support.
- Stay current with best practices, research, and trends in the field of deaf education and assistive technology to inform instructional practices and support student learning.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Deaf Education, Special Education, or a related field (Master's degree preferred).
- Valid teaching certification in Deaf Education or Special Education.
- Fluency in American Sign Language (ASL) preferred.
- Experience working with students who are deaf or hard of hearing, preferably in a virtual or remote setting.
- Strong understanding of instructional strategies, accommodations, and assistive technologies for students with hearing impairments.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and effectively manage time and tasks in a virtual environment.
