Deaf and Hard of Hearing Teacher 24/25
Position: Full-time Deaf and Hard of Hearing Teacher
Pay Range: $35-$41 per hour
Job Description: We are looking for a dedicated Deaf and Hard of Hearing Teacher who is fluent in American Sign Language (ASL) and knowledgeable about deaf culture to support students with hearing impairments. As a Deaf and Hard of Hearing Teacher, you will be responsible for designing and implementing personalized education plans that cater to the unique needs of each student. You will collaborate with other educators, parents, and support staff to create a supportive and inclusive learning environment.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with hearing impairments.
- Provide instruction in American Sign Language (ASL) and other communication methods to facilitate learning.
- Use assistive technology and resources to enhance learning opportunities for students.
- Monitor student progress and adjust teaching strategies as needed to ensure academic success.
- Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment that celebrates diversity and promotes acceptance.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Deaf Education, Special Education, or a related field.
- Valid teaching license/certification for Deaf and Hard of Hearing Education (or willingness to obtain).
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and knowledge of deaf culture.
- Experience working with students who are deaf or hard of hearing preferred.
- Patience, empathy, and a passion for working with diverse learners
