Key Qualifications:
- Hold valid credentials or certification as a Deaf/Hard of Hearing Specialist or Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing (as required for school settings)
- Experience working directly with students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing, ideally in a K-12 environment
- Proficient in developing and implementing individualized education programs (IEPs)
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, families, and other educators
- Skilled in utilizing assistive listening devices, ASL, and/or other communication modalities
- Dedication to fostering a positive, accessible, and engaging classroom environment
Responsibilities:
- Provide direct and consultative services to students with hearing differences
- Conduct educational assessments and contribute to IEP planning and documentation
- Adapt and modify general curriculum for accessibility, as needed
- Collaborate with teachers, speech-language pathologists, interpreters, and families to support student success
- Travel between school sites as required for caseload
- Educate staff and students on effective communication strategies and Deaf awareness
