What you’ll bring:
- Valid certification or credential as a Deaf/Hard of Hearing Specialist or Teacher for the Deaf/Hard of Hearing
- Experience working with children or adolescents in a school environment
- Strong understanding of auditory support technology and assistive devices
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) or other communication methods for DHH students
- Ability to collaborate with educators, administrators, families, and other service providers
- Commitment to advocacy, accommodation, and equitable education practices
Key responsibilities:
- Provide direct instruction and support to students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing
- Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
- Consult with classroom teachers about accommodations, accessibility, and best practices for DHH learners
- Conduct ongoing assessments to evaluate student progress and adjust interventions as needed
- Facilitate communication between students, staff, and families to support inclusion
- Maintain accurate records and complete required documentation in a timely fashion
