Deaf and Hard of Hearing Specialist - Stuart, Florida
Empower students as a Deaf/Hard of Hearing (DHH) Specialist, providing essential educational support in a collaborative school setting. In this contract, full-time position, you will work onsite, serving as a key resource for students who are deaf or hard of hearing while supporting your fellow DHH teachers’ caseloads. Your expertise will help ensure each student receives the personalized instruction and advocacy needed to thrive academically and socially.
Qualifications & Desired Experience:
- Valid state certification as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing (DHH) or eligibility for certification
- Experience working with children or adolescents who are deaf or hard of hearing in educational settings
- Strong understanding of individualized education programs (IEPs) and ability to implement accommodations and modifications as needed
- Exceptional communication skills, including proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) preferred
- Ability to collaborate effectively with general education staff, parents, and related service providers
- Passion for supporting diverse learners and promoting an inclusive environment
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver specialized instruction to students who are deaf or hard of hearing in various classroom settings
- Support the caseload management of other DHH teachers by assisting with planning, documentation, and service delivery
- Participate in IEP meetings and contribute to the development of student goals and supports
- Advocate for student needs with teachers, administrators, and families
- Monitor student progress and adjust interventions to ensure ongoing growth and achievement
