Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) - Pearl, MS
This position focuses on teaching students who are deaf or hard of hearing within a dedicated school setting. The role involves working closely with a small caseload, maintaining a student-to-teacher ratio of 8:1, with an additional teacher assistant to support classroom activities. The contract runs from July 29, 2026, to June 25, 2027.
Responsibilities:
- Provide specialized instruction tailored to students with hearing impairments
- Collaborate with a teacher assistant to manage classroom activities effectively
- Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
- Communicate regularly with families and support staff to monitor student progress
- Adapt teaching strategies to meet the unique needs of students with hearing loss
- Maintain accurate records and documentation as required by the school district
Qualifications/Experience:
- Certification or licensure as a Deaf / Hard of Hearing Specialist or Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing
- Experience teaching students who are hearing impaired
- Strong knowledge of assistive technologies and communication methods, including sign language and auditory-verbal techniques
- Excellent classroom management and organizational skills
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment
Location:
- This opportunity is based at a single school site in Pearl, MS.
Schedule:
- Full-time, 5 days per week, Monday through Friday
- Hours are from 7:45 AM to 3:30 PM, following the school calendar for all Mississippi schools
