Deaf and Hard of Hearing Specialist - Naperville, Illinois

Key Qualifications:
- Valid Illinois Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing certification (TDHH Cert in IL) required
- Experience working with elementary-aged students preferred
- Strong knowledge of current best practices for deaf/hard of hearing education
- Proficient in collaborating with multidisciplinary teams
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with students, staff, and families
Responsibilities:
- Provide direct instruction and support to elementary students who are deaf or hard of hearing in accordance with individualized education plans (IEPs)
- Develop and adapt lesson plans to ensure accessibility and understanding
- Conduct assessments and contribute to IEP meetings, documenting progress and making recommendations for student needs
- Collaborate with general education teachers, related service providers, and parents to support student inclusion and success
- Utilize technology, assistive devices, and visual resources to enhance communication and learning
- Foster a positive, supportive atmosphere where each student can thrive academically and socially
